AmbiClip - #1

AmbiClip

AmbiClip is a versatile cliprail‑based UFH system designed for fast, accurate installation within screeded floors. The system delivers reliable pipe positioning using the AmbiClip cliprails fixed securely to insulation with a combination of an adhesive backing strip and AmbClip 50mm barbed staples, creating a stable foundation for continuous serial pipe loops. This ensures even heat distribution and dependable performance across a wide variety of floor layouts.

Suitable for both traditional and liquid screeds, AmbiClip is widely used in residential and commercial projects thanks to its flexibility, high output capabilities and compatibility with 16mm UFH pipe. The system is tested to BS EN 1264‑2:2021, providing installers with confidence in thermal performance and long‑term reliability.

Once the cliprails are secured to the insulation layer, pipework is laid in continuous serial loops according to the heating design. As with all clip‑based systems, screeding should be scheduled shortly after installation to protect the pipework and minimise the risk of damage. Where liquid screed is used, the insulation layer must be sealed to create a watertight base before pouring.

Why Choose AmbiClip?

  • Fast Installation: Cliprails with adhesive backing and barbed staples enable rapid and secure fixing, improving workflow on site.
  • High Heat Output: Indicative performance reaches up to 132 W/m² at 45°C MWT and 0 tog covering (200mm pipe spacing).
  • Heat‑Pump Ready: Designed for efficient operation at lower flow temperatures, ideal for modern low‑carbon systems.
  • 50 mm Pipe Spacing Grid: Consistent spacing supports balanced system design and efficient heat distribution.
  • Secure Cliprail Fixing: Adhesive backing and barbed staples ensure the rail stays firmly in place during pipe installation and screeding.
  • Serial Pipe Pattern: Straightforward layout for simple, reliable installation aligned with design drawings.

System Components & Build‑Up

This configuration delivers a stable substrate, secure pipe retention and consistent heating output across the floor.

Thermal Performance
Tested in accordance with BS EN 1264‑2:2021, AmbiClip achieves up to 132 W/m² at 20°C room temperature with MWT 45°C and 0 tog covering. Performance will vary depending on covering type, pipe centres and building heat‑loss characteristics.

AmbiClip FAQs

What pipe size does AmbiClip support?

AmbiClip is designed for 16mm UFH pipe, which is fixed into the cliprail system in continuous serial loops for even heat distribution.

Is AmbiClip compatible with liquid screed?

How are the cliprails secured during installation?

Installing the AmbiClip System

Step 1. Ensure the working area is clean, flat, structural and stable. Lay the damp proof membrane (DPM) across the entire floor, ensuring it rises at least 150 mm up the wall. Install the border edge insulation around the perimeter, stapling if required.

Step 2. Refer to the supplied UFH design for pipe routes, loop lengths and cliprail layout. Lay the cliprails by removing the adhesive backing and pressing them firmly into place. Join cliprail lengths end‑to‑end and secure with cliprail clips as needed.

Step 3. Begin laying the pipework following the specified pipe spacing on the UFH design drawing (cliprail slots are set at 50mm increments). Press the pipe into the cliprails and use cliprail clips for additional fixing where required.

Step 4. Assemble the manifold and connect each pipe loop. Perform a full pressure test to ensure the system is secure before applying screed.

Step 5. Once the system has passed the pressure test, the floor is ready for screeding. After the screed has fully cured, trim any excess DPM and border edge insulation. The floor is then ready to receive the chosen finish in line with manufacturer guidelines.
